  • Keep it short and memorable
  • Avoid special characters that may not display well
4
Choose Team Colors

Why Team Colors Matter

Team colors help distinguish teams in match views and statistics. They appear in:

  • Match scoreboards and lineups
  • Season standings tables
  • Team statistics charts
  • Public sharing cards

Select your team's colors using the color picker:

  1. 1Click on the primary color field
  2. 2Choose a color from the palette or enter a hex code
  3. 3Optionally set a secondary color for away matches
  4. 4Preview how the colors will appear

Color Tips

  • Match your kit: Use colors that match the team's actual kit colors
  • Ensure contrast: Choose colors that are easily distinguishable from opponents
  • Stay unique: Try to avoid colors too similar to other teams in your group
  • Consider branding: Official club colors help with recognition
5
Review and Create

Review your team details before creating:

  1. 1Check the team name is correct
  2. 2Verify the colors look right in the preview
  3. 3Review any other settings you have configured

  2. 2Click on the logo area or "Upload Logo"
  3. 3Select an image from your device
  4. 4Crop and adjust the image if needed

File Requirements

  • Formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG
  • Maximum size: 5MB
  • Recommended: Square (1:1 ratio)
  • Minimum: 200x200 pixels

Design Tips

  • Use a transparent background (PNG)
  • Simple designs display better at small sizes
  • Ensure the logo is recognizable when small
  • Avoid text that becomes unreadable when scaled down
7
Team Settings

After creation, you can adjust team settings:

  1. 1Navigate to the team page
  2. 2Click "Settings" or the gear icon
  3. 3Update team name, colors, or other options
  4. 4Click "Save" to apply changes

Editable Settings

  • Team name and description

Changing a team name after matches have been played will update the name in all historical records. Be careful with name changes.

8
Add Players to the Team

Finally, add players to your new team:

  1. 1From the team page, click "Manage Roster" or "Add Players"
  2. 2Select players from your group's player list to add them to the team
  • Select existing players from your group's player pool
  • Create new players directly and assign them to the team

For detailed instructions on managing players, see the Player Management tutorial.

Common Scenarios

Youth Club with Multiple Age Groups

Setting up teams for a youth football club:

  • Create a team for each age group (U12, U14, U16, etc.)
  • Use age group names in team names for clarity
  • Assign different colors for each age group
  • Upload the club crest as the logo for all teams

Amateur League

Creating teams for a local amateur league:

  • Create one team for each participating club
  • Use official club colors for each team
  • Upload official club logos when available
  • Keep team names consistent with official registrations

Pickup Games

Simple setup for regular pickup football:

  • Create just two teams (e.g., "Whites" and "Colors")
  • Use contrasting colors (white vs dark)
  • No logos needed for casual games
  • Shuffle players between teams each match
Troubleshooting

Cannot Create a Team

If you cannot create a team, check the following:

  • Ensure you have Admin or Owner role in the group
  • Check if your subscription allows more teams
  • Verify the team name is not already taken in the group
  • Try refreshing the page and attempting again

Color Picker Not Working

If the color picker is not responding:

  • Try using a different browser
  • Enter the hex code directly instead
  • Clear your browser cache
  • Disable browser extensions that might interfere

Logo Upload Failing

If the logo upload is not working:

  • Check the file size (must be under 5MB)
  • Verify the file format (JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG)
  • Try a different image or resize the current one
  • Check your internet connection and try again
Best Practices

Naming

  • Use clear, descriptive names
  • Include age group if applicable
  • Keep names short for display
  • Be consistent with naming conventions

Visual Identity

  • Match colors to real kit colors
  • Use high-quality logo images
  • Ensure colors contrast well
  • Update visuals when kits change

Organization

  • Create teams before adding players
  • Keep roster sizes manageable
  • Archive inactive teams
  • Review team settings each season
